What was the job?
The Marist Schools in Sunninghill, Berkshire, are Catholic Day Schools for girls aged 2-18.
The mahogany parquet flooring needed sanding in some corridors after being worn by the heavy footfall expected from a school.
Challenges
Floors in schools are prone to being scuffed and damaged as they see a lot of foot traffic from active children and teens. In order to treat the scratches caused by rocks in shoes or running through the corridors, we had to wait until there weren’t any students around.
Areas:
Ground floor corridor: 34.79 m2
First floor corridor: 35.04 m2
What we did
There were no pupils in the working area when we began work.
The sanding process was straight-forward, the damage to the floors only being on the surface with no significant holes or gaps. The floors in the school are well-maintained. To preserve the quality of our work, we added two coats of base prime and three coats of clear commercial lacquer. This is more than we use on residential floors.

The results
The floors are back to great quality and resistant to scuffing. Because the floors are well-cared for, despite the school environment, they should last many years.
After treatment, the floors suit the high reputation of the school.
We provide virtually dust-free sanding with our continuous belt machinery with mobile extraction units, giving you a safer environment for your family.
This organic finish not only adds beauty to your home but also has exceptional water-repellent characteristics, making it easier to clean and maintain.
We offer a full assessment of your wooden floors to determine what repairs are needed to provide the perfect working surface for the later stages of sanding, staining and sealing.
