If you begin to notice that the protective seal on your wooden floor is beginning to wear off, you need to take immediate action and recoat the floor. There are many reasons for doing this.
Most Important Reason For Recoating
The first and the most important reason to recoat your floor before the seal completely wears off and bares the wood below is that once that happens, you will no choice, but to refurnish the entire wood flooring. This is a time consuming as well as a very expensive proposition. Once the seal has worn off, it is impossible to recoat the wood. It then has to be thoroughly sanded until all the wood is exposed and then has to be coated with 2 or 3 layers of finish depending on which finish you choose. Recoating only involves applying an additional layer of the coat.
Other Reasons
The other obvious reason for recoating when the seal begins to wear off is to keep up the beautiful appearance of the sanding wooden floors. Also, exposed wood is more prone to scratches as well as wear and tear which will deteriorate over time and will leave you with no other option than refurnishing the whole floor.
