A fresh looking wooden floor is a thing of beauty. Unfortunately, without proper care and maintenance, this beauty can fade and ultimately die. If you want to make sure that your wooden floors last you for several decades, you need to ensure that proper care is taken. Here are some helpful tips.
Avoid Water
Water is the biggest enemy of wooden floors. It can cause a lot of damage to wooden floors in the form of swelling, warping, twisting, discoloration, etc. Water in all its form- solid, liquid, and gas- must be avoided at all costs. Avoids spills of any type and if they happen, wipe them off immediately. Never mop the floor with a wet mop. Ensure that humidity levels in the room are maintained between 35% – 55%. Even while installation of sanding wooden floors, it is important to ensure that there is no danger of water seepage or leakage. Vapour barriers are required for concrete floors.
Regular Care
Ensure that the temperature in the room is maintained between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius. Vacuum regularly to ensure that there is no accumulation of dirt and grit. However, never use the revolving brush in the vacuum cleaner.
