Floor Sanding and Finishing – helpful advice for you
Nothing can compare to the beauty and elegance of a perfectly. However, there are many home owners who are not aware of the finishing process at all. In the floor sanding and finishing process is a two step process. Before you get into the finishing stage, it is important that the floors are properly sanded.
The Sanding Process
Sanding is the first step in the floor sanding and finishing process. Make sure that you use an orbital sander to get rid of the old finish on your floors. In fact, an orbital sander may take some time but unlike drum sanders it does not chip away the wood itself. The next step in the floor sanding and finishing process is to scrape away at the corners by using a pull scraper and then using a palm orbital sander, smooth and flatten the edges left by the scraper.
The Finishing Touch
The final step in the floor sanding and Polishing process is to apply a stain before applying fresh coats of polyurethane. Allow the stain to dry first before applying the polyurethane coat. Then allow it to cure for a couple of days before applying another coat. Let it dry for another day so that the polyurethane layers bind together. The entire finishing process may take three to five days depending upon the number of coats you want to apply. This will give your flooring an elegant and beautiful look.
