The floors of a home in Lordship Lane, Southwark, were in desperate need of maintenance and repair work.
Considerable gaps had formed between some floorboards and replacement wood needed to be fitted in some areas to regain a lovely finish.
Challenges
Repair work had to be carried out in many areas before sanding began as the floor was very damaged in places. This meant there was a time delay. Due to the size of the project even without consideration for repairs, we knew the work would take more time than usual.
Some floorboards were completely the wrong size and resin would not be enough to fill the gaps.
How the floor looked before we started work
What we did
All obstructions were removed from the working areas so we could see immediately which floorboards needed to be tended to first. When we had a clear idea of a working order, repair work began. New boards were supplied and fitted in places which would not be fixed with gap filling and loose boards were nailed down.
After sanding, buffing and vacuuming, we applied clear lacquer to ensure the floors will remain durable for years.
