What was the job?
Pine parquet floorboards in a home in the Maidenhead village of Taplow had suffered from lack of maintenance.
The homeowner requested our services for sanding and repairs to restore the parquet flooring.
Challenges
Some parquet blocks were damaged and in need of replacement, while other areas had become loose and needed to be levelled before work could properly start.
Makeshift repair work had been administered in the doorway, which we were asked to fix.

How the floor looked before we started work
What we did
There were major repairs, including relaying and sticking down uplifted blocks to three separate areas, totalling an estimated 2 m2. We also had to supply new blocks for the doorway and keep the pattern in line with the rest of the floor.
After this, we began the minor repairs and secured loose blocks. When the floor was smooth and flat, we were able to begin sanding. Any remaining small gaps were filled with resin. This then left us free to cover the surface with four coats of heavy duty lacquer.

The results
There are no visible signs of repair work and the lifespan of the floor has been extended by our work. The doorway is now safer as there is no uneven surface or crack between boards to trip on.
Applying lacquer means the blocks are resilient to the standard spills and scratches expected in a kitchen.
We provide virtually dust-free sanding with our continuous belt machinery with mobile extraction units, giving you a safer environment for your family.
This organic finish not only adds beauty to your home but also has exceptional water-repellent characteristics, making it easier to clean and maintain.
We offer a full assessment of your wooden floors to determine what repairs are needed to provide the perfect working surface for the later stages of sanding, staining and sealing.
