What was the job?
We went to Leytonstone to work on some stairs and floors which had suffered from years of neglect.
The homeowner decided to get rid of the carpet which had been hiding the floorboards.
Challenges
The floorboards had been hidden under carpet for quite some time and, as a result, had not been cared for. The boards had developed gaps and the original colour had gone.
A lot of the home had been carpeted so we had a considerably large area to work on.
How the floor looked before we started work
What we did
Before sanding, we secured any loose boards and fixed any of the larger gaps between the wood. This meant dust and debris was less likely to fall between cracks where it could not be cleaned. After sanding, we buffed and vacuumed the surface to leave it completely clear when lacquering.
We were careful with the stairs as the reduced surface area presented a health hazard. After sanding treads and risers, we painted the risers at the client’s request.
The results
The carpet is now gone and the clean, presentable floors are prominent in the home. Because of our work, the whole house appears more inviting. Wood floors are easier to clean and maintain than carpets and the lacquer will preserve the quality for some time.
We provide virtually dust-free sanding with our continuous belt machinery with mobile extraction units, giving you a safer environment for your family.
This organic finish not only adds beauty to your home but also has exceptional water-repellent characteristics, making it easier to clean and maintain.
We offer a full assessment of your wooden floors to determine what repairs are needed to provide the perfect working surface for the later stages of sanding, staining and sealing.
