What was the job?

After years without professional or any treatment, the pine wood floors throughout an Upper Edmonton home had become considerably damaged.

Challenges

Many floorboards needed to be secured properly and there were holes in the floor in several places. These had to be repaired before sanding work began.

Areas:
Lounge/dining room – 23.80m2
Entrance hallway – 3.60m2
1/2 landing – 1.28m2
Landing – 3.22m2
Stairs – 13 + 1 No. treads & risers
Reclaimed board : 9 l.m.

What we did

Some floorboards had to be replaced before we could start work. We also had to properly secure boards in other areas as they had become loose and made the floor uneven. After that, we sanded, buffed and vacuumed the floor. There were still gaps which we then filled with resin.
With a smooth level surface to work on, we applied four coats of clear lacquer.

The results

There is a major difference between how the floor looked before our work and what it looks like now. With the maintenance work, the durface is stronger and durable.

The lighter tone of the wood compliments the neutral colours on the walls.
