Sanding wood floors in Islington
What was the job?
Some floors in Islington were badly damaged and the owner needed our assistance to restore them.
The floors had badly suffered after not being properly cared for. Boards were loose, large gaps had formed and some boards had holes.
Repairing the floor was going to take some time, as there was more damage than is usual for a project. There were also several rooms which needed our attention.
How the floor looked before we started work
What we did
Floorboards which were too damaged were replaced, while some needed to be resecured. Due to the level of damage, this was a longer process than the two hours we usually find preferable.
After replacing, refitting and filling the gaps between floorboards, we were finally able to start sanding. The small gaps were filled with a cosmetic mix of slivers and resin and then lacquer was applied to the sanded surface.
During the floor restoration
The state of the floor has been vastly improved. Without protruding boards, the surface is a lot safer to walk on. It will be easier to carry out more maintenance on the property with a sturdy surface to stand on.
If the owners care for the wood, it should be given a new lease of life.
