Sanding wood floors in Tooting
What was the job?
A home-owner in Tooting, London, wanted restoration work doing on the floors in their living area. They also wanted a different colour to the wood.
Residential properties have obstructions such as furniture and, in this case, a fireplace. This meant we had to be careful when sanding and avoid damaging any of the homeowner’s belongings.
Also the floors in this property were pine which is a soft wood. This required an extra level of care to avoid over-sanding the floor and to get the quality finish we always strive for.
The floor was badly worn and damaged as you can see from the images below, which meant a lot of work to get it back to the standard it should be.
How the floor looked before we started work
What we did
To remove the stain of the wood, we sanded using a three stage process. Our machines are dust free to prevent anything spreading throughout the building. This also resulted in a clean and level surface which looked better already and was ready for the next step.
Heavy-traffic lacquer was then applied to finish the floor and which will maintain the quality of the sanded floor and leave it resilient to the natural wear and tear of family life. Applying three coats also added shine and ensured proper protection for years to come.
During the floor restoration
The floor once finished looked almost brand new, but with the character only an established wood floor has. The new lighter wood stain also added a feeling of increased space, which is always a benefit in a London home.
