Floor SandingWell, you are planning to go about floorboard sanding on your own. Great, but it is important to know all about the sanding process before you start with it. Here are a few tips that will prove to be of a great help to those who want to DIY.

How to start?

First things first, you should start by clearing the entire space that you want to sand. Remove the furniture and see if the floor has enough wood on it that can undergo the sanding process as each successive sanding depletes the floorboards of some wood. After you have ascertained this, make sure to hammer down any loose nails and fill any gaps in between the floorboards. After you have done this you can start sanding your floorboard.

Sanding

Sanding is a specialized work that should be done carefully. Use the best sander machine and carefully select the grits of the sandpaper. Move from higher grit to medium to finer grit for best results. After floor sanding, clean the entire area of any residue or dust. Now apply the desired stain on the floorboard. You can use the stain used earlier or can even change the color. Finally use the finish as per your preference of taste, color, texture and preference.
