The purpose of sanding floorboards

The main purpose of sanding floorboards would be to even out the flooring. While fixing wooden floorboards to the floor there would some irregularity or unevenness in the leveling. Sanding floorboards can also fill up the gaps between the planks. It however should be taken into consideration that the planks can expand so just the right amount of sanding should be done. Besides making old floors look new, sanding of floorboards is also done after staining wood to even out the colour of the stain.

The steps involved in sanding floorboards

The process involves using different grades of sandpaper. First coarse sandpaper is used to remove the unevenness caused by dents and bulges. Then medium and fine quality sandpaper is used to remove any scratches and remaining irregularities to generate clean and smooth flooring.
