Posted on March 31st, 2011 In: Blog, Floor Sanding Services Blogs

Parquet floor sanding is something that you may consider if you have traditional parquet hardwood flooring at your house. The sanding principle is more or less the same as with other wood flooring types.

The Sanding Process

Parquet floor sanding involves sanding away the top layers so that only smooth and even wood remains behind. This sanding process also involves certain obstacles that are quite similar to other wood types. In order to get good results you need to know the entire Parquet Floor sanding process and at the same time have the right kind of equipment to do a good job. If you are not aware of the parquet floor sanding process, there is no need to worry as there are many professional flooring companies that can take care of the sanding process for you.

Filling the Gap

It is very important that you fill up the gaps before Parquet floor sanding process because wood is a natural material and it can expand and contract over a period of time thereby creating gaps between the floor boards. Use resin mixed with floor sanding dust. Then pack this mixture into the gaps using a flat spatula. This process is inexpensive and works well if the gaps are less than 4mm. If it is more you will have to consider using solid wooden strips.
