Alligators Love Hardwood Floors
It seems unlikely that anyone in the United Kingdom would seriously want – or be able – to keep an alligator for a pet in their own home, but just in case someone ever does, they should look to American John Boyko for advice and guidance.
Bokyo became internationally infamous following a report in the New York Times when his 11 pet alligators were confiscated from his home in Connecticut. He has, however, since gotten his little beauties back again, and even featured in a documentary on the BBC entitled Americans and their Pets.
With there being no actual permit laws in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania to keep alligators as pets, Bokyo was able to regain custody of his beloved reptiles by moving them to a larger house in Prince Township. Bokyo no longer lives with his reptile friends, with the house being kept specifically for them and has been adapted to best suit their needs – including when it comes to flooring. The original flooring has been altered to suit the alligators, according to a brand new report in The Pocono Record.
“Inside, all the carpeting has been ripped out, leaving bare hardwood floors” the report states. “Instead of a sofa, there are several large, plastic ‘ponds’ for the alligators to soak in.”
Whether or not flooring experts would really recommend the use of hardwood floors as the ideal flooring for alligators, it probably would not be wise to call in the services of a hardwood floor sanding company – at least not while the alligators were still there!
