Carpet Tiles Growing in Popularity
The popularity of carpet tiles is on the rise according to experts in the flooring industry. Commercial premises have long been using carpet tiles due to their practicality being so much more durable in the work place than other forms of flooring such as wood, which can often require many wood floor repairs. However, design is increasingly another important factor as to why carpet tiles are increasingly being chosen as the flooring option of choice.
Using differently patterned or coloured carpet tiles is a growing trend, which is termed “Zoning” by those in the interior designer industry. In large, open plan offices, it enables the open plan space to still be split into several distinct areas while maintaining the spacious feel of the office in general. Carpet tiles can even be used in conjunction with other types of flooring in the office environment, such as vinyl, rather than just being used exclusively. “Bright, stand out colours are a key influence in this trend, with many manufacturers integrating vivid shades into their ranges,” Forbo Flooring Systems’ Julie Dempster noted in an interview with industry magazine Contract Flooring Journal.
The innovation regarding the new design options such as coloured tiles are the main reasons why carpet tiles, while as said having long been favoured in the work place due to their practicality, have suddenly exploded in popularity in recent times. It has become very much the “in thing”, the art of “Zoning” allowing an office to continue to look professional while also making an individual statement.
