Flooring Lighting Concern
Some home renovators wishing to carrying out wood floor restoration or any other kind of flooring renovation are being warned to choose their floors with extreme caution as while they may look fine in the store, the way a house is lit could have an unexpected and unwanted effect on the look of the floor once it is actually installed in the home.
Store lighting can be very different from the décor in people’s actual homes, and there are numerous recorded instances of people installing what they believe to be their dream floor of choice only to find that it then seems to be a different shade when seen under the lights in their house. Sometimes it has even been known for a floor to look as though it is an entirely different colour from the one the consumer believed it to be when they originally chose it in the store. Customers are being advised to take a sample of the flooring home with them before purchase to ensure that it remains the same ideal look in their house as it appears to be when first seen in the flooring store.
Sometimes even that precaution can slip up should the flooring change come as part of a more extensive home renovation. Cases have been recorded of flooring samples looking fine at home, only to then change their appearance because something else in the room (the addition of a window, for instance) has significantly altered the lighting scheme.
