Flotex Flooring for Surgery
The new surgery unit at Brace Place, an orthodontic practice based in the city of London in the United Kingdom, has received new flooring from Forbo Flooring Systems, a manufacturer and supplier of flooring systems throughout the country. The flooring, which was designed by Issy Spektor from aiBDA, has received certification from the British Allergy Foundation for its resistance to accumulating dust mites and other irritants that can be adverse to the health of those who suffer from persistent allergies.
Two floors have been provided for the practice, consisting of corridors, the reception and office space, and both feature Flotex Sottsass wool, which is a part of the range known generally as Sottsass. The wool features natural fibres that are arranged in a linear pattern and that contain very vivid blue hues, which only add to the floor’s aesthetic appeal. There are over 70 million electro-statically flocked fibres for every per square metre in the flooring, which makes the floor both very easy to wash while at the same time giving the acoustic result of a normal form of carpeting. It is also completely waterproof, slip resistant and extremely hardwearing. Its durability has been compared favourably to that of wooden flooring, and just as that can survive many years without the need for wood floor repair, so this special flooring is also highly durable, even in conditions such as a medical practice where it will be in continuously use by both patients and members of staff.
