Sustainable Wood Flooring
A recent exhibition has made a point of focusing on how to achieve an environmentally friendly lifestyle by using eco-friendly products such as sustainable solid wood flooring. While the exhibition, which was staged under the title of The Green Living Show, took place in Toronto in Canada, most of the advice and ideas presented in the exhibition would apply all over the world, including the United Kingdom.
Altering everyday life by changing to adapted appliances and sustainable flooring and furnishings was one of the big themes of the exhibition, with a lot of emphasis placed on environmentally friendly wood flooring. Wooden floors can be extremely environmentally friendly as more and more floors are being created using timber that has been taken from sustainable forests, where numerous new trees are planted for every one that is chopped down; a very important move to ensure the sustainability of such forests by maintaining the same amount of trees.
Another reason for the environmentally friendly nature of wooden floors is because of their extreme durability, meaning that they will last for a very long time – possibly decades with the correct maintenance – before they are in need of replacing or even have to undergo wood floor repair. This in turn makes it a much more desirable form of flooring for the environmentally conscious, as most other forms of flooring will need to be replaced in a relatively speedy manner in comparison with solid wood flooring. Also recognised at the exhibition was furniture that had been made from recycled everyday items.
