Urbane Living Goes for Wood Flooring
A new wooden flooring range has been introduced by Urbane Living. The new range, which is handcrafted and aged to create an elegantly antique wood floor effect, comes in various different forms, including Chestnut, Elm, Oak, Pear and Walnut. The techniques that form the basis of the “aged and antique” look for the new range of wooden flooring cannot be mass produced by machines in a factory, and have to be applied by hand with some level of artistic skill, in order for the rich textures and grain tones of the floors to genuinely evoke a sense of age and history. There are various techniques that are employed in order to engender this effect, from hand-scraping to French polishing.
The co-founder of Urbane Living, Adam Robertson said that age added character and depth to the wooden boards. “The techniques used are painstaking and time consuming. They are all done by hand with great attention to detail and what you end up with is a striking looking floor.”
Robertson points out that the floors suit modern homes as well as more traditional period ones. “There is something very appealing about distressed wood floors” he notes. “It introduces excitement to a space. It is the perfect choice if you want a classic timeless look for your home. One of my personal favourites is the Hand Distressed Walnut flooring with worm holes effect.”
Despite the aged look, the wood itself is, of course, of the highest quality and will not require any wood floor repair for many years.
