Welch’s Transport Happy With Flooring Company Deal
Welch’s Transport, the transport company based in Cambridge in the United Kingdom, says it is very pleased with the results of the first three months of its contract with manufacturing firm Ardex UK. Ardex UK manufactures tiles and flooring products, including products that are ideal for helping with wood floor repairs. It hired the Cambridge based transport company to run volumes of palletized freight, starting from January 2011, following the collapse into receivership of its former transportation company, Courtenham Warehousing and Distribution, which had held the contract with Ardex UK for three decades until late last year. Welch’s Transport also provides artics and rigids in the Ardex livery as part of the deal with the manufacturing company and says that it has achieved a KPI rating for goods delivered on time of no less than 98.8%.
“We implemented a new strategy (last year) to shift our operational emphasis more towards our prime fleet and the groupage side of the business,” says Welch’s Transport’s Managing Director, Jim Welch. “We’re thrilled to win the Ardex business as it’s not only an important step forward for Welch’s Transport but was won despite opposition from much larger competitors.”
Products sold by Ardex UK include damp proof membranes, floor covering adhesives, floor screeds, repair mortars, resin flooring systems, sub-floor smoothing compounds, tile adhesives and grouts. Based in Haverhill in Suffolk, they are well known within the flooring industry for providing good quality products at cost effective prices.
